Big cities are always thirsty for more space to grow into. Since the focus of urban planning has often been on vertical growth in order to house more people, today the same kind of thinking is being applied to the areas where food is produced, in line with sustainable development goals.
Raiz Vertical Farms is an urban farming startup aiming to develop networks of vertical farms across the neighbourhoods of big cities. The overarching objective is to transform currently underused urban spaces into decentralised areas for agricultural production, providing food resilience for growing urban communities.
