This accomplished project by architect Francisco Caldeira Cabral is summed up in this reflection of S. Bernardo: “one learns far more from forests than from books; trees and rocks will teach you what you will never learn from your masters.”
Upholding the tradition of beautiful gardens next to the Tejo river, to the west of the centre of Lisbon we find the gardens of the Centro Cultural de Belém. There are 7 gardens to be visited, each conceived with a distinctive function and in dialogue with the building, as well as keeping in context with other nearby gardens.
From the small patios and famous Olive Garden facing the river, to the Water Garden facing north, or the more recent vertical gardens of the CCB square, you will discover the many facets of this iconic space.
