New roots are being put down in Lisbon, driven by a desire to live more slowly, in families and communities, more connected to the earth and to the production of our own food.
Alto da Eira Farm is a social, environmental, cultural and — to a certain extent — experimental project based on the creation, construction, and running of a sustainably managed community farm, maintained by the hands of those who live near it and to which everyone contributes for the benefit of all.
The project is run by Associação Regador in partnership with Penha da França Parish Council and Renovar a Mouraria, and funded by the BIP/ZIP – 2021 Edition programme from Lisbon City Council. It aims to educate via practical training sessions, resources and tools related to the growing of food with a zero-waste approach, as well as promoting the sharing of time, experiences, and stories between all participants.
