In the ground we walk on, and the rocky substrates hidden under the vegetation that grows in these soils, we can find ancient stories. Did you know that the geological history of the Lisbon region features volcanic eruptions and boiling seas where limestone was deposited?

This walking route through Monsanto Park takes us in search of what is hidden, what is heard but not seen, the vestiges left by living things and, simultaneously, the traces of the park’s own rich history, creation and development.
